Get to know Fiona Millett

Fiona loves her role as the Accounts Manager, supporting the talented Jamison Travel & Cruise team, ensuring the accuracy of the trust account and looking after all things finance.  She’s an avid traveller who thrives on the challenge and variety of travel agency bookkeeping, with the flexibility to work from anywhere in the world.

Travel has always been an important part of Fiona’s life, starting as a preschooler, spending several winter ski seasons in Queenstown, NZ.  Later, she recalls a memorable family caravan holiday in mid-winter through the UK and France, then home via Japan for more skiing.

Professionally, Fiona began her career in Sydney, working in her father’s business as both a trainee Accountant and a computer boffin at the forefront of personal computing.  As a young adult, she relocated to Adelaide with her husband, Alec, to start a family.  There, she spent a decade providing bookkeeping services to multiple businesses, initially through an agency, then self-employed with three staff.

In her spare time, Fiona pursued her interest in investing by studying Financial Planning.  This led to a career change on completion of her diploma qualification, providing 10 years of engaging work in the financial planning industry, initially in Adelaide, then continuing in Perth.

And then, for something completely different, she enjoyed three years working as a Senior School Officer in the WAAPA Music Department at ECU, while completing a Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting.
A career opportunity for Alec saw them empty nesting to Canberra and provided the impetus for Fiona to return to her roots as a bookkeeper for a diverse range of businesses, including Jamison Travel & Cruise since 2015.

Fiona enjoyed sharing her love of travel with her family, organising trips to Japan, NZ, Canada, Europe, the UK and the USA.  She now regularly visits her daughter and granddaughter in Japan and her son and his family in Norway and looks forward to embarking on new adventures to other destinations.
